The release of the President’s FY 2011 budget this week included a significant increase in funds to programs that support family caregivers through its proposed Caregiver Initiative. The over $100 million budget increase includes funding for caregiver services and temporary respite care and dollars for home and community-based supportive services, such as elder transportation and adult day care programs. Additionally $8.1 million is allocated for the Administration on Aging (AoA) nutrition service programs, such as Meals on Wheels.
Each of these programs is critical to many elder’s ability to age in place. WOW applauds the Administration’s proposal for increased funding for caregiver supports and services.
Read the AoA Budget Statement for more information.
